Blood Collection Tubes
I.S.S. manufactures a large selection of plastic and glass blood collection tubes, these are non-evacuated and can be used for many different applications. We have a product range of blood tubes that have a fill volume from 0.5ml up to 10ml, these can be pre-filled with different anticoagulants, clotting accelerator agents and serum separation gel or beads. The material used can be either polystyrene or polypropylene with or without a label.
We have different format of lids available for example screw cap, pierceable membrane and push cap for our range of paediatric blood collection tubes. We also have carrier tubes that can be used with a special ‘click fit’ feature to convert the blood tubes to a standard diameter and height so that it can be used directly with automated sampling equipment. We have 5-10ml screw cap glass narrow and wide neck tubes (without anticoagulant), either gamma irradiated or non-sterile.
Our blood collection tubes are CE marked in accordance with (EU) 2017/746 2017 and tested to ISO 6710:2017, a single-use containers for human venous blood specimen collection. The lids are colour coded for standard compliance and ease of recognition.
Colour coded lids
- Orange: Lithium Heparin
- Pink: Di Potassium EDTA
- Yellow: Fluoride/Oxalate

- Brown/White: Separation Gel for Clotted Blood
- Green: Treated with Separation Gel
- White: Empty, Treated with Clotted Blood/Beads or Gamma Irradiated
